The country's military said its air defenses successfully repelled a wave of Iranian attacks. Meanwhile, an AFP journalist in Manama reported hearing explosions after the sirens sounded. "The air defense system thwarted the attacks," the military said in a statement, adding that it intercepted and destroyed several dangerous Iranian airstrikes. Iran Attacks Qatar Another US ally, Qatar, has twice warned citizens to take shelter as a barrage of Iranian missiles targeted the country on Friday (July 17, 2026).
