Suspicious Minds - Dwight Yoakam with Lyrics (CC) - Mountain Winery Amphitheater
Suspicious Minds (1:17), encore performance by Dwight Yoakam at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA. - October 6, 2022 Digital Music and CDs available at: https://store.dwightyoakam.com/en/dwi... (Lyrics below and as Subtitles / Closed Captions - Click CC to turn on/off). "Suspicious Minds" is a 1968 song written and first recorded by American songwriter Mark James. After this recording failed commercially, it was cut by Elvis Presley with producer Chips Moman, becoming a No. 1 song in 1969, and one of the most memorable hits of Presley's career. In 1992, Dwight Yoakam recorded his version, for the soundtrack of the film Honeymoon in Vegas, and also filmed an accompanying video. The track was later released on his compilation album "The Very Best of Dwight Yoakam" I really enjoyed this rendition; it seems he gets better with time. At 65, Dwight Yoakam still exudes the country superstar aura he had when he started his career in the late 1980s. For nearly four decades in the industry, he has remained true to his stripped-down approach to traditional honky tonk and Bakersfield country music. That is why many roots rock and rock & roll fans remained loyal to his adventurous music. To date, Yoakam has sold more than 30 million records worldwide –– that is a feat only a few country artists have achieved. He also had multiple Grammy wins and nominations and released 12 gold albums and 9 platinum or multi-platinum albums –– five of which topped the Billboard's Country Albums chart and 14 others in the Top 10. With all these successes throughout his career, Yoakam was finally inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2019. Lyrics to Suspicious Minds (note, the subtitled lyrics are slightly different given how Dwight sang them): We're caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much, baby Why can't you see What you're doing to me When you don't believe a word I say We can't go on together With suspicious minds (suspicious minds) We can't build our dreams On suspicious minds So if an old friend I know Stops by to say hello Would I still see suspicion in your eyes? Here we go again Asking where I've been You can't see the tears are real, I'm crying We can't go on together With suspicious minds (with suspicious minds) And we can't build our dreams On suspicious minds Oh, let our love survive I'll dry the tears from your eyes Let's don't let a good thing die When honey, you know I've never lied to you Mmm, yeah, yeah We're caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much, baby Why can't you see What you're doing to me When you don't believe a word I say Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much, baby Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much, baby Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much, baby Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much, baby == music: "Suspicious Minds" by Dwight Yoakam (c) 1999 Reprise Records ============================================================================= MUSIC SONG: Suspicious Minds (2004 Remaster) • Suspicious Minds --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ARTIST: Dwight Yoakam / @dwightyoakam --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALBUM: Suspicious Minds --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WRITERS: Mark James https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Ja...) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LICENSES: SME, WMG (on behalf of Warner Rhino Off Roster-Audio); Sony Music Publishing, AMRA, SOLAR Music Rights Management, UNIAO BRASILEIRA DE EDITORAS DE MUSICA - UBEM, LatinAutorPerf, LatinAutor - SonyATV, CMRRA, and 7 Music Rights Societies ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
