Launched in 1965, the Peugeot J7 succeeded the D3 and D4 with a simple mission: to offer a robust, practical utility vehicle capable of adapting to almost any professional use. Compact, equipped with sliding doors, a low, flat floor, a forward-control cab, and a wide range of body styles, it quickly became one of the most familiar French utility vehicles of its time. Panel van, pickup, flatbed cab, ambulance, minibus, police car, gendarmerie vehicle, fire engine, livestock carrier, refrigerated transport, mobile business vehicle, or even camper van: the J7 and then the J9 embodied this idea of ​​a "do-it-all" vehicle. In 1981, the Peugeot J9 took the J7 platform and modernized its design, interior, comfort, and certain technical features, thus extending an already well-established formula.
