The British SAS Major Who Charged an SS Kill Zone in His Jeep After His Men Were Executed

#BritishSAS #IanFenwick #OperationGain On 7 August 1944, an old French woman pedalled a black bicycle out of the village of Chambon-la-Forêt to flag down a British jeep on the open road. She had information. A German ambush was waiting ahead. She told the SAS Major commanding the jeep that his captured men were already dead. He listened. He thanked her. Then he drove straight into the ambush anyway. This documentary tells the story of Major Ian Fenwick, the Punch cartoonist who drew dust jackets for P. G. Wodehouse before the war and ended it commanding D Squadron of the First Special Air Service Regiment in occupied France. On Operation Gain, deep in the Forêt d'Orléans, Fenwick's squadron lived in the woods and hit the German rear, until a betrayed drop, a captured patrol, and a roadside warning from a Frenchwoman led him to the decision that ended his war on a country road south of Chambon-la-Forêt. Discover the cartoonist who became a special forces commander, the engagement to a Scottish widow he never lived to marry, and the head-on charge into a prepared SS ambush that took less than a minute to finish. 🔥 In this video: Punch to Parachutes: How a celebrated cartoonist ended up commanding an SAS squadron. Operation Gain: The deep-penetration mission in the Forêt d'Orléans. The Compromise: A betrayed resupply drop and a captured patrol.
