Santa Teresa and Nicoya Peninsula

We decided at the last minute to make a short trip (2 nights) to an Airbnb in Cobano just above in the jungle near Santa Teresa. It was an interesting place, kind of rustic, with no screens to the outdoors. Beautiful outdoor area, adequate kitchen, and upstairs with two beds and small living area all open with just curtains separating us from the outdoors. The owners, Eliath and Willon, were extremely sweet and helpful. At their recommendation we found El Carmen right at the busy intersection between Santa Teresa/Cobano/Malpais. We spent two lovely afternoons there on the beach enjoying that beautiful sunset. Service was always amazing, and food and drinks were delicious. We tried to get to Playa Malpais, but the road was closed due to construction. We found a little beach nearby where we spent a few hours and Aaron was able to fly his drone and play on the rocks. That night we drove to Paquera for a bioluminescence experience with Eddy. We had an early dinner near the ferry terminal at Asociación de Pescadores de Paquera where I had a whole lobster and shrimp that was so fresh and delicious. Eddy was a kick and took us out for a memorable boat ride to witness the amazing bioluminescence. The long drive home in the dark was dicey but we made it and turned in after a long day. 11pm that night, I was wakened by a scorpion that ran across my shoulder and stung me as I flung it off. It hurt like crazy, and we did not know how serious it was, so I dosed with Benadryl and Tylenol as we looked it up on Google. Fortunately, Costa Rican scorpions are not deadly, but I appeared to be having a mild allergic reaction with my fingers and lips feeling tingly and numb which continued for several days. The owner was so sweet and gave me warm milk to take away the poison. I cannot fail to mention several trips through Santa Teresa which is a remarkably busy surf town, filled with young people in pursuit of their waves. The streets were filled with people on quads and motorcycles and the road dust was almost overwhelming.
