FLIGHT OF THE PELICANS
(18 May 1964) The Royal Air Force Central Flying School at Little Rissington in Gloucestershire is the oldest military flying school in the world. It has a pelican on its crest, and Patrick, the pelican, as its mascot. Here, flying instructors from this country and overseas are being trained. This year, the Red Pelicans' aerobatic team under the leadership of Flight Lieutenant Terence Lloyd, has been chosen to represent the RAF in all the major air displays in this country and Europe. They will be flying 6 Jet Provost trainers. Our jet-propelled cameraman Norman Fisher photographed some of their most spectacular manoeuvres, the final rehearsal for their first public show on Whit Monday.
