WONOSOBO, KOMPAS.TV - The Eid al-Fitr season is often marked by various traditions. For example, in Wonosobo, Central Java, dozens of hot air balloons are flown, decorating the sky. A total of 19 hot air balloons took to the skies in Garung Village, Kalikajar District, Wonosobo. Large hot air balloons enlivened the hot air balloon festival this Eid al-Fitr. The balloons were first filled with smoke from burning fires to ensure a smooth flight. They were then flown to a height of 50 to 100 meters and tethered with ropes for easy control. According to the organizers, the festival was held to discourage balloon enthusiasts from flying wildly. Several participants admitted to frequently flying hot air balloons. A single hot air balloon takes over a month and a half to build. Besides providing a platform for hot air balloon enthusiasts, the festival also attracted local residents.
