2008-2012 Ford Escape A/C overhaul lessons learned

In this YouTube video, I wanted to share how important it is to understand where your pressure switches are in your AC system. Understanding that in this version of the Ford escape the fail safe pressure switch is on the high side circuit. It’s a sensor not a switch. It has 3 wires. It knows when pressure is to low and when pressure is to high. So you will have to jump the compressor to get the compressor to suck in the refrigerant. Another key thing to point out is that the thermal expansion valve evaporator back plate is very wiggly. It will move as you are trying to put the two thermal expansion T 25 screws back into place. the evaporator tubes must be fully seated in the thermal expansion valve or else you will have a leak, causing you more headache.
