V-RIG Demonstration: Learning This MOVING ROPE System (MRS) for Arborists & Tree Climbers!
In this episode, I will demonstrate how to use a V-RIG . I am very new to climbing with this system, so this was a learning experience for me, which I hope you can learn from without having to go through the trouble of setting everything up! This system can be built from a traditional Hitch Climber setup on a doubled rope by unclipping the terminal end of the rope and bring it through a pair of pulleys, and then by reconnecting it to the center hole of the Hitch Climber pulley. This will form a triangle. In order to complete the setup, a climber must pull down the top of the triangle (the upper strand of rope) and connect it to the first Hitch Climber pulley by using a second Hitch Climber pulley. This video documents my second ever attempt at climbing with this system. In order to avoid having to hip thrust up a limb so that I could install one of the two pulleys at each TIP, I installed and climbing a single rope instead of that doubled rope misery. You can see that my single rope remains canopy anchored to the limb where the second TIP and pulley are. This makes it easy for the viewer to envision how I accomplished this feat!
