August 3, 2025. Returning to the slip. Solo boat handling.

I decided to show you how I crab walk the boat. I use this technique when the wind and current picks up. I only have around 10' aft cleance from the dock behind me when I leave the slip so I sometimes use the bow thruster for a little help so to guide her in without touching the sides. My slip is 18' wide my boat is 15.6'. I can dock without a thruster and I have many times. My viewpoint is, if you have a thruster being bow or aft why not use it. It's like power windows on your car. Awesome addition. Note : Using this technique works well if you do not have a thruster. Trust me I know.
