The body of the late Bishop Dom Osório Citora Afonso was transported this Friday afternoon to the province of Nampula, his birthplace. The coffin was carried in a moving funeral procession through the city streets to Quelimane Airport. The prelate's urn will remain overnight at the Archdiocese of Nampula, and the burial is scheduled for this Saturday, in a ceremony strictly reserved for members of the bereaved family. The official farewell in the capital of Zambézia brought together hundreds of Catholic faithful, members of the clergy, missionaries, and various civil entities who wanted to pay their last and well-deserved respects to the Bishop of the Diocese of Quelimane, whose tragic death shocked the country.
