Isa Khan’s Tomb Before reaching the main tomb, we explore the octagonal tomb of Isa Khan Niyazi, a noble in Sher Shah Suri’s court. Built in 1547, nearly two decades before Humayun’s Tomb, this structure showcases Lodi-style architecture, decorative blue tiles, and a dedicated mosque. The Gateway and Restoration We pass through the Arab Sarai Gateway, a 15-meter-high structure built to house the Persian craftsmen who constructed the monument. We also highlight the massive restoration undertaken by the Aga Khan Trust between 2000 and 2003, which revived 30 acres of gardens and 3 km of water channels using historical fruit trees such as peach and lychee. The Architectural Marvel Standing on a high platform, Humayun’s Tomb was designed by Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyas at a cost of ₹15 lakh.
