I repaired my faulty Whirlpool ADG 7559 dishwasher myself. It would fill with water and then drain after a short wait without running a wash cycle. The problem was a clogged air duct for the pressure switch, which prevented the machine from detecting that water had been filled and consequently terminated the cycle. This video describes how I cleaned the dishwasher's air trap, without having to disassemble the machine and, more importantly, without calling for assistance. Since boiling water is used, I assume no responsibility for any burns (though a little caution is all that's needed). If the plunger doesn't get the dishwasher to restart, it means the blockage is stubborn and requires a more forceful method to dislodge it. I've successfully used a cable (technically, galvanized wire) that's easily found at hardware stores (it looks like a bicycle brake cable). The cable must be no larger than 2 mm in diameter and at least 5 meters long. There are two steps: 1) Insert the cable into the air trap hole, leaving the tip unchanged; that is, insert the cable as it was sold to you. You'll need about 1.5-2 meters of cable. Insert it firmly, making sure to pass through any obstacles you'll undoubtedly encounter. Push in as much as you can. Then, pull it out. 2) Repeat the process, but this time with the tip of the cable slightly open. The threads shouldn't protrude more than 5 mm, otherwise the cable won't be able to pass through. With the tip of the cable open, you'll achieve a "chimney sweep" effect. This time, inserting and passing the cable through will be a little more difficult, but you'll get there with a little patience. After this operation, clean again using boiling water and a sink drain cleaner.
