User Spotlight: Dr. Rex Marco In a detailed update from our recent session, Mark Scott describes the significant enhancements made to Dr. Rex Marco’s wheelchair and daily functionality: This week, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Leah Cole OT, our newest Munevo Independent Sales representative based in Houston, TX, as part of the Southwest Medical Representative group. We convened at Dr. Rex Marco’s residence on Wednesday to not only configure his powered wheelchair for the munevo DRIVE system provided by National Seating & Mobility but also to precisely calibrate the accompanying glasses to align with Dr. Marco’s current range of head motion. Additionally, we provided training on how he can utilize some of the glasses’ standard features to enhance both his professional and personal daily activities, making them not only more manageable but also safer. Dr. Rex Marco is a distinguished Spine Surgeon and Musculoskeletal Oncologist. His life took a turn 4 1/2 years ago due to a bicycling accident where he sustained a severe injury to his C3 cervical joint, rendering him paralyzed from the neck down. Despite his limited range of motion, particularly with left cervical flexion, we worked diligently to fine-tune the munevo DRIVE system and wheelchair electronics, achieving a level of functionality that instilled confidence in Dr. Marco. The next day, we filmed a brief user testimonial video at his TIRR Memorial Rocket Spinal Cord clinic. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Marco for his generosity with his time and invaluable feedback. He exemplifies excellence not only as a physician and educator, but also as a father and a compassionate individual. I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to intersect with his journey and contribute to enhancing his daily tasks and routines for the better.
