Black lab dog watercolor pet portrait tutorial

I just love painting black animals, and Onyx is no exception. You'll see that I originally hoped to use ultramarine blue as the highlight AND shadow color but I decided to add cobalt teal in at the end. It was a good pivot. We're using lots of water in today's paint along to achieve those beautiful pigmented edges and blooms. We're using neutral tint, ultramarine blue, and cobalt teal. We'll also use quinacridone gold in the eyes and add in a few finishing touches with bleed proof white ink at the end. Have a tool handy for scraping and and ink pen for whiskers and you will be ready to paint Onyx! *I apologize for the faint hum/ringing in the background audio. My mic picked up this from my laptop.
