“Gentle Giant” is an original tribute song honoring Sergeant William “Conley” Jumper Jr. of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina. Known affectionately as the “gentle giant,” Sgt. Jumper served his community for 28 years as a law enforcement officer and K9 handler. He was remembered for his kindness, his enormous heart, his love for children, and his unwavering dedication to protecting others. On October 20, 2020, Sgt. Jumper was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop on Interstate 85 near White Horse Road when a suspect attempted to flee. Despite the danger, he fought to stop the suspect from harming innocent motorists. He leaves behind a powerful legacy carried on by his wife Sarah Beth, his daughter Cat — now serving in law enforcement herself — and the countless deputies, students, children, and community members whose lives he touched.
