In the purpose of safeguarding Khmer souverainity, King Ang Dong had requested to France Emperor Napoléon III for the protection of Cambodia against Siam and Anam power. Unfortunately, France ignored by the negligence of missionary Charles Montigny who spreaded out this secret intention of Khmer King to the ear of Siam king. Although King Ang Dong let gone, French marines had attacked former-Kampuchea Krom, Mekong delta after conquered Touran port of middle Vietnam, Da Nang. Finally, French colonel, Mr Charles Antoine François Thomson had forced Khmer King, Norodom, to sign in the treaty by which withdraw the power of Cambodia monarque.
