Tenzin Dorjee's Remarks at the UN, November 28, 2025

On Friday, November 28, 2025, Tendor (Tenzin Dorjee) Tibet Action Institute’s Senior Researcher and Strategist, delivered powerful remarks at the United Nations in Geneva. Despite both China and Iran interrupting multiple times and demanding he be stopped from speaking, Tendor was able to continue to rousing applause from the room at the end. Tendor was invited to be an expert panelist at the UN’s 18th Forum on Minority Issues in Geneva. He addressed UN experts and diplomats from more than 26 countries, including China, exposing China’s colonial boarding school system in Tibet and calling for its immediate abolition. China hopes to use forums like this to cement its “ethnic minority” label onto Tibetans and other nations under CCP rule. But Tendor used the same stage to assert what China fears most: that all peoples under occupation, including Tibetans, have a right to self-determination. This was a very rare occasion that a Tibetan was a panel member at this level because of how China’s pressure and malign influence at the UN.
