A scenic drive through East Iceland. This drive takes you from the charming fjord village of Seyðisfjörður to the majestic Hengifoss waterfall, passing through Egilsstaðir. Seyðisfjörður is a picturesque small village located in Eastern Iceland at the end of the fjord. It serves as a vital port, connecting Iceland with Denmark and the Faroe Islands via car ferry. After leaving Seyðisfjörður, we begin ascending toward Fjarðarheiði, a mountain pass at 600 m. The descent offers breathtaking panoramic views before we arrive in Egilsstaðir. Egilsstaðir, with a population of 2,600, is the largest town in Eastern Iceland and a tourist hub for exploring Eastern Iceland. Our destination, Hengifoss, is a stunning 128-meter waterfall renowned for its distinctive red clay layers visible between the basalt layers.
