In this video, we'll take you to Ronda and Setenil de Las Bodegas in the Andalusia region of Spain. Ronda is charming, and just walking through its historic center is worth the visit. It was built at the top of the El Tajo gorge, and its main and most impressive feature is the Puente Nuevo, a 98-meter-high bridge built in the late 18th century that connects the old town to the new town. You can walk across the bridge and enjoy panoramic views of both the houses built on the clifftops and the river flowing below in the gorge. Ronda is on the route of the Pueblos Blancos (White Villages), villages with houses painted with white lime paint, which stand out against the region's mountainous landscape. Besides reflecting the sun's heat and keeping the interiors cool during the very hot months, the white paint also helps control pests like ants and cockroaches, due to the properties of the lime. We took the opportunity to visit one of these white villages, Setenil de Las Bodegas. The most interesting thing about it is that some houses were built directly beneath the rocks, creating a very curious and different appearance from what we're used to. Cueva del Sol and Cueva da Sombra are must-see stops for those who want to see some of these establishments, which now operate as bars and restaurants. In fact, we recommend sitting down there and trying some traditional Spanish tapas. That's what we did, and we highly recommend it!
