Flushing your power steering fluid is a good way to extend the lifetime of the power steering components and ensure the best driving experience. There is a built-in filter in the power steering reservoir for Mercedes vehicles with the M112 and M113 based engines. The only way to replace this filter is to replace the reservoir. There is plenty of information on the Internet about this repair, we put together this video to show you the tips and tricks that are going to make it a breeze to complete. Some people claim that replacing the reservoir helped reduce the noise of their power steering pump. We may have experienced a slight reduction in noise, but primarily got peace of mind from the repair knowing a new filter and fresh fluid were in the system. You can follow these steps if you are flushing the system only and not replacing the reservoir. Simply skip past the part where we install the new reservoir to where we reattach the hose and bleed the system. Take your time and use plenty of rags underneath the pump and reservoir.
