The Affair That Turned Violent | How clients are turning into something else inside lodgings
Today on Tales by Titus 254, we meet a guest named Caroline Wambui. Caroline was born in Korogocho, one of Nairobi’s informal settlements. She was raised by her single mother, who supported the family by doing laundry. Sadly, her mother later passed away. Following her mother’s death, Caroline went to live with her grandmother. Life in Korogocho was extremely difficult—they took on odd jobs just to survive. At the age of nine, Caroline began using drugs, influenced by the wrong crowd. Eventually, she was taken to a rehabilitation center. By the time she reached Class 8, she had to leave the rescue center due to overcapacity—they could not support more than 72 children. Caroline returned home. At 13, she started moving around town and, with the help of a friend, began to change her appearance. She met a man who showed interest in her, and flattered by the attention, she became his girlfriend. When she returned to school, she struggled to concentrate—her thoughts were consumed by the relationship. At 14, her boyfriend began stealing from homes to provide for her. He was eventually arrested. Caroline later met a 20-year-old man, and within two months, she became pregnant. When her first boyfriend was released from jail, he discovered she was expecting another man’s child. Surprisingly, they became close friends. After she gave birth, the first boyfriend was arrested once again. When her baby was three months old, Caroline’s child’s father began cheating on her. Despite warnings from the other woman’s father, he persisted—until one day, he was stabbed to death. 🕯️ Caroline's journey has not been easy. To provide for her children, she turned into selling her body in night clubs. She shares her experiences openly, explaining the steps she took to make sure her children never lacked basic needs. One night, a client attacked her during an argument—he was choking her, and she had to break a window to scream for help. 🎧 This is Carol’s story—raw, powerful, and painfully real. We listen to understand, not to judge. Welcome.
