The Ridge | A White Mountains Winter Film

For generations people have been drawn to Franconia Ridge. A single summer day can see hundreds cross these peaks, but in the winter, the ridge becomes something else entirely. This film documents a winter crossing of the infamous Franconia Ridge in Franconia Notch State Park - A place know for its extreme weather, expansive views, and one of the most popular hikes in the White Mountains. Long before modern gear, conservationists and early mountaineers helped shape and preserve these trails — allowing future generations to follow the same paths. Every year, hikers require rescue in the White Mountains. Some don’t make it back. Preparation, experience, and decision-making matter. This film is just one of many crossings.
