TODAY IN QUEER TV HISTORY DYNASTY: Premiere - 1/12/1981, ABC One of the first megahit prime-time soaps, DYNASTY, debuted today in 1981. Right from the start there were conflicts between the homophobic conservative oil magnate Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) and his sensitive liberal gay son Steven (Al Corley). By the end of the season, Blake will have killed Steven's boyfriend... a crime he will get away with.
