My first dummy run powerlifting competition. After the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, I decided that I wanted to try something different and couldn't think of anything better than to kick start a little de-tour journey in Powerlifting along side Weightlifting. My goal for this journey is to be able to push for a New Zealand Back Squat record which is set at 383kg/844.5lbs by the man himself, Joseph Whittaker. Back Squats is the only powerlifting movement we incorporate in my weightlifting training when there is a gap in the competition schedules to build base strength. So learning and getting use to Bench & Deadlifts is weird.
