TODOS SE BURLABAN DE EL! LA INCREIBLE HISTORIA DE DJ LUIAN
Luian Malavé Nieves, better known as DJ Luian, was born on September 30, 1990, in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Interestingly, despite having made his fortune in reggaeton, his early musical tastes were completely different. Bands like Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, and Slipknot were his main source of inspiration during his childhood. Later, through his mother and several relatives, Luian discovered reggaeton, which at that time was considered underground. Even as a child, young Luian showed signs of becoming a successful entrepreneur, as in the fifth grade, he became famous for pirating CDs. In fact, Luian was one of those responsible for pirating Daddy Yankee's entire album, Barrio Fino. Thanks to the money from piracy, Luian bought his first recording studio and began recording several of his school friends. At 17, he had his first opportunity as a DJ in the genre. Thanks to the late Alexio, Luian met Jomar “El Caballo Negro,” who was looking for a DJ for a show. Luian, with no prior experience, offered his services. Luian used the only $500 he had saved from his job selling tacos to buy a DJ machine. He quit his first and only job, believing that as Jomar's DJ he would earn a lot of money, but he was sorely mistaken. Jomar only paid him $40 for that performance. And just as Alexio had introduced him to Jomar, Jomar also introduced Luian to Kendo Kaponi, with whom he formed a special connection. At that time, Kendo was just a songwriter, but he was already working with renowned artists like Cosculluela, Baby Rasta & Gringo, and Wisin & Yandel. Luian saw in Kendo an opportunity to break into the industry and became his producer. In fact, it was Luian who gave him the idea of using the name Kendo Kaponi, in honor of his son Cheniel Capone, since at that time Kendo was going by the name "La Mano Derecha" (The Right Hand). Thanks to Kendo, Luian met several artists who changed his life. The first of them, obviously, was Arcangel. One day, Luian and Kendo parked outside Luny's studio waiting for someone to come out so they could talk to them. They saw Arcangel and Chencho arguing about whether or not they should write Cosculluela's lyrics. And coincidentally, Luian was there with Kendo, Coscu's songwriter, so he saw the perfect opportunity to approach them. Also thanks to Kendo, Luian met Don Omar, who wanted to sign Kendo to his label "El Orfanato" (The Orphans). Furthermore, it was Luian who gave Don the idea for the album title "Meet the Orphans." Luian's plan was to appear on the album cover, but after getting into trouble on the street, he ended up in the hospital with a broken head and missed the photo shoot. But all was not lost, as with his savings, Luian managed to build his first music studio in his grandfather's house. And so Alqaedas Inc., the record label created by Kendo, was born. In this studio, the first song that Arcangel recorded with Luian was born, the beginning of a whole era. Kendo and Arca had just finished recording "El demonio de la tinta" (The Ink Demon), and while Kendo was resting, Luian took the opportunity to show Arcangel a beat. And so "Panamiur" was born. From then on, in 2010, Arcangel and Luian became inseparable partners, until 2016 when it all came to an end. But don't worry, we'll get to that. The first musical project they worked on together was the mixtape “Optimus Arca,” for which all the songs were already finished, but Luian was in charge of mixing them. They also produced Feliz Navidad 2 together, the second installment of their famous diss track saga. The famous line “Diselo Luian” originated in this song. Remember when we told you that Luian pirated Barrio Fino? Well, obviously Yankee never found out about this because otherwise, he wouldn't have jumped on the Panamiur remix. Luian also played a crucial and decisive role in the anthem “Llegamos a la disco,” since he was the one who gave Yankee the idea to do a track together. Initially, only DY and De la Ghetto were going to participate in this track. However, on the day of the recording, more and more artists gradually arrived at Musicologo's studio. Seeing that things were starting to get serious, Luian called Arca and Kendo to come to the studio and collaborate on the track. After Optimus Arca, Luian and Arcangel produced "Me Prefieres a Mí," a classic in Arca's career that led to him being signed by music mogul Raphy Pina. In 2013, they produced the album "Sentimiento Elegancia y Maldad," which, according to Arca, has been his best production to date. In 2014, Luian began to shine on his own when he released his first single, "Tremenda Sata," with Arcangel. It was so successful that it spawned four different remixes.
