Article 3, paragraph 3 of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Regulation Number 60 of 2018, confirms that new undergraduate (S1) student admissions at State Universities (PTN) are accepted through the SNMPTN and SBMPTN (National Selection for State Universities) and the Independent Selection (Independent Selection) conducted by each university. Therefore, the rectors of 17 state universities (PTN) members of the West Region State University Board (BKS PTN) have agreed to jointly organize an independent university entrance selection program in 2021, called the 2021 PTN-BARAT SMM program. The seventeen state universities participating in the 2021 PTN-BARAT SMM are: Syiah Kuala University (USK), Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta), Bengkulu University (Unib), Jambi University (UNJA), Lampung University (Unila), Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Padangpanjang, Palangkaraya University (UPR), Malikussaleh University (Unimal), Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (UMRAH), Bangka Belitung University (UBB), Teuku Umar University (UTU), Sumatra Institute of Technology (ITERA), and Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture. (ISBI) Aceh, Samudera University (Unsam), Riau University (UNRI), Siliwangi University (Unsil), Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University of Jakarta (UIN Jakarta) The 2021 SMM PTN-BARAT program is essentially an independent selection process conducted by each university, with the technical implementation being carried out jointly. The SMM PTN-BARAT is a selection process based on the results of a computer-based written exam (UTBK), conducted jointly under the coordination of the SMM PTN-BARAT committee. The 2021 SMM PTN-BARAT program is funded entirely by registration and selection fees for prospective students.
