The Labrador Retriever is a retriever of British origin, more often simply called a Labrador. In Italy, the first official club was founded only in the 1980s. Labradors generally enjoy good health, but like all purebred dogs, they can suffer from specific conditions, such as hip and elbow dysplasia and retinal atrophy. Another characteristic of Labradors is a tendency to obesity, which could be due to a mutation in the POMC gene, but also to diabetes, hypothyroidism, or an unbalanced diet. But what is a Labrador's personality? Every dog ​​has a unique personality, but like all retrievers, they have a strong syllogical motivation, which requires them to fetch anything they can find. Other strong motivations include predatory motivation—which drives them to chase anything that moves—and kinesthetic and probing motivations. The Labrador is considered a "good" dog and therefore suitable for anyone, but this isn't the case. For example, they're not suitable for those who spend a lot of time away from home: a Labrador left alone for too long suffers terribly. They're not aggressive, but they could destroy your home out of boredom.
