The Cooper Temple Clause was an alternative rock band formed in Wokingham, Berkshire, in 1998. They quickly rose to prominence after signing a record deal with RCA in 2000, releasing several singles and EPs that paved the way for their critically acclaimed debut album, "See This Through and Leave," in 2002. In 2006, they left RCA and signed with Sanctuary Records, where they released their third album, "Make This Your Own." However, following the departure of band member Daniel Fisher, The Cooper Temple Clause announced their split in April 2007. Named after the Cowper-Temple clause, a provision related to religious education in the 1870 Elementary Education Act in England and Wales, the band often played with the origin of their name in interviews, creating fictional stories about its derivation.
