Strive to do good in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with all men. 19 Do not avenge yourselves, my dearly beloved, but give place to the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay," says the Lord. 20 But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; For in doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. CONFESSION OF FAITH: I do not believe in the rights of the strong, in the language of weapons, in the power of the powerful. I believe in justice, in the open hand, in solidarity, in the power of nonviolence. I do not believe in race or wealth, in privileges tied to gender or orientation. I believe that all human beings are precious in the eyes of the Lord and that the order of force and injustice are actually disorder. I do not believe I can ignore what happens far from here. I believe that the whole world is my home, and that every woman and every man is my sister and brother. I do not believe I can fight oppression elsewhere if I tolerate injustice here. I believe that justice is one, here as elsewhere, and that I am not free as long as a single human being is enslaved. I do not believe that war and injustice are inevitable and peace unattainable. I believe in humble action, in bare-handed love, in peace on earth. I do not believe in the value of suffering, I do not believe that the dream of broken chains and of freedom is just a dream. I believe instead, always and despite everything, in a new humanity in Christ. I believe in God's own dream: a new heaven, a new earth, where justice will dwell.
