Roland TD-7 MIDI Drum Sound Module
Here's something a bit different for MIDI equipment, a dedicated Roland Drum Module! I ended up liking this thing more than I thought I would. I figured I would end up leaving it on a shelf most of the time after the video but I think integrating it into the MIDI stack for games makes sense. But I also realize not everything is going to benefit from it. I don't think I'll ever get to realize it's capabilities as a drum controller since the pads are so expensive. The Rockband drum pads here "work", but I really can't stress enough that they aren't usable because of the small area of sensitivity. Like I said in the video, they really only respond correctly in a space about the size of a dime. It's possible that the other drum kits they made, especially the later Guitar Hero sets with cymbals, may be more sensitive. If I see one of those for cheap at a thrift store I may grab it and make a part two of making a toy drum kit real. I will have to get a real drum pedal and probably mount one of the portable drum pads on a board to make it work. Here are the recordings on the second channel: • Roland SC-55 + TD-7: Descent Title Music • Roland TD-7: Pages • Roland TD-7: Freestyle • Roland TD-7: MultiFiesta These weren't meant to be high end recordings of the music, it's just a mic up to the speaker. I was able to make them though with almost no additional effort so I thought I would.
