The greatest power of "sharing feelings" is one heart touching another 💓 One soul ✨ awakens another soul 🌟 A director who has returned from the brink of death, yet changed countless lives If life could only be lived once, many would pursue success; if life offered an extra chance, Chu Chuan-li would choose to dedicate himself. Director Chu Chuan-li was born in a small fishing village in Keelung. He wasn't a model student in the eyes of his teachers, and his education was fraught with difficulties. He graduated from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Keelung Commercial and Industrial Vocational High School. By chance, he entered the field of photography and videography, progressing from still photography and advertising to filmmaking, gradually reaching the international stage. He has filmed commercials for well-known domestic and international brands, including Punaton, Panasonic, and EPSON. He has also dedicated himself to research in film and 3D imaging technology, creating Asia's first 3D concert film, *Mayday 3DNA*, and developing independent 3D live-action shooting technology, allowing Taiwan to gain a foothold in the global 3D imaging field. Throughout his career, he has received numerous prestigious awards both domestically and internationally, including the Harold Lloyd Award, the Golden Bell Award, Best Film at the Korea 3D International Film Festival, Best Film at the San Francisco 3D Film Festival, and Best Work Award at the Beijing International Advanced Imaging Conference. He has shared the stage with director Ang Lee, exchanged creative ideas with director Hou Hsiao-hsien, and director Tsui Hark has visited Taiwan multiple times to seek advice on 3D shooting techniques. These accolades have showcased the strength of Taiwanese cinema to the world. However, what truly changed Director Chu's life was not the awards, but a life-or-death ordeal. In 2002, at the age of 35 and at the peak of his career, a fist-sized brain tumor compressed his brainstem, and doctors initially predicted he might only have six months to live. Under the care and introduction of Master Hsing Yun, Dr. Chen Min-hsiung performed a highly complex surgery, successfully saving him from the brink of death. However, the surgery left permanent sequelae: deafness in his left ear, amblyopia in his left eye, facial nerve damage, impaired balance, and a surgical scar over 20 centimeters long on the back of his head. Master Hsing Yun gave him a piece of advice: "Befriend your illness." These four words changed the course of Director Chu's life. He began to ponder: "If life could start over, what could I leave for Taiwan?" So, he made a decision that many could not understand. In 2013, when he stood on the stage of the World 3D Awards, known as the "3D Oscars," receiving applause from around the world, he did not continue into the commercial market, nor did he stay on the international stage. Instead, he chose to return to Taiwan, bringing the most advanced 3D imaging technology to rural areas. Some said he was foolish, some said he was "out of his mind." But Director Chu always smiled and replied, "If images can move the world, why can't they move our own land first?" Thus, he founded the Beauty Taiwan 3D Mobile Cinema. "Beauty is a kind of power." Therefore, he transformed "beauty" into "Beauty Power," hoping to see the beauty of the land and the beauty of its people through images. From 2009 to the present, the Beauty Taiwan 3D Mobile Cinema has traveled throughout Taiwan, touring over 400,000 kilometers in fourteen years, reaching remote areas, outlying islands, indigenous communities, and resource-scarce schools, accompanying over 370,000 children to learn about Taiwan's mountains, oceans, ecology, culture, and human stories through 3D films. For many children, it wasn't just their first time wearing 3D glasses, but also their first time believing that their hometown was so beautiful, and that the world could be so vast. Along this journey, Director Chu gradually discovered that what truly touches people's hearts is not just scenery, but people. So, he began filming "Taiwan Superheroes." Over many years, this film documents a group of Taiwanese people who bravely forge ahead despite life's adversities. After its release, Taiwan Superman enjoyed a six-month run, grossing over NT$30 million and marking a significant milestone for Taiwanese documentaries in the past decade. It also garnered nearly 300 post-screening discussions. Many viewers entered the theater smiling but left in tears. Some were inspired by the film to stand up again, some abandoned suicidal thoughts, some began to embrace their families again, and some finally believed they still had the ability to go on.
