Alabama Weather Network Late Morning Forecast: Monday 07/06/26

Meteorologist Bill Murray walks through the Monday late morning statewide forecast for July 6, 2026, with the daily summer storm routine running a little livelier than normal thanks to an upper level low parked over Arkansas. The Regions SkyCam Network shows a beautiful start across the state, with the Tennessee River sliding past Weatherton Park in Jackson County at 79 degrees, Railroad Park in downtown Birmingham at 84, and Point Clear on Mobile's Eastern Shore already sitting at 90 as the coastal day cranks up. Showers and thunderstorms are already firing across parts of Lawrence, Limestone, Winston, and Fayette counties. Highs this afternoon run between 88 and 93 degrees, with scattered showers and storms possible statewide. Storms should not be as rambunctious as the past few days, but any stronger cell can bring frequent lightning, gusty winds, heavy rain, and a slight chance of a tree or two coming down. Southeast Alabama stays under a major heat risk with heat index values climbing into the 101 to 107 range. A more organized area of storms pushes through the northern part of the state late tonight and predawn Tuesday, then falls apart by morning across Lamar, Fayette, and Marion counties. Wednesday brings another round from the west, and Thursday holds onto typical scattered afternoon storms. Rainfall totals of 0.25 to 1.5 inches are possible over the next 7 days, with locally higher amounts wherever storms park. The drought monitor is looking much better and Northwest Alabama should see further improvement Thursday. Out in the Pacific, Super Typhoon Bobby has weakened from 175 mph winds and continues weakening as it tracks toward Taiwan and China.
