MATCHBOX Custom No SB21 Skybuster BAC Lightning 1977

This makeover could be the very first of it's kind on youtube! - This is a makeover of a Matchbox Lesney diecast aircraft model. This Mighty Military Machine (MMM for short) is from the 1970s Matchbox 'Skybusters' range; it is an English Electric Lightning later called the BAC Lightning when the company English Electric was bought out by BAC. In real life this aircraft was indeed a 'Skybuster', the only ever British designed and built supersonic fighter, this jet was made for high speed, high level interception of enemy aircraft that would often 'stray' into British airspace. With it's two Rolls Royce Avon engines, uniquely mounted one above the other, it could climb at an incredible 50,000 feet per minute!!! Often scrambled in Britain in the 1970s and 80s it would rendezvous with, usually, Russian aircraft on spying missions crossing East to West over the North sea close to the Northern tip of Scotland. This aircraft was a true classic of it's time and I hope that you enjoy my new paint job and decals based on an actual aircraft.
