Jup do Bairro l Papo de Música l Presença Preta

The Papo de Música channel's interview season features an exclusive conversation with a complete artist. This week, we have two guests, and this time, I spoke with a new generation artist born in the outskirts of São Paulo. JUP DO BAIRRO is a Black woman, free from labels, who found her greatest form of expression in music. She gained national prominence after releasing her first EP, Corpo Sem Juízo, in 2020, during the pandemic. Since then, many collaborations and singles have paved the way for the release of her debut album. @jupdobairro not only moves us with her lyrics but also endorses representation, so necessary in the current context. This season, all interviews are with Black artists, in homage to Letieres Leite, musician and conductor, creator of the wonderful Orquestra Rumpilezz, who passed away last year, a victim of Covid. Letieres used to say that ‘all Brazilian music is Afro-Brazilian’. Join the conversation and support independent journalism.
