The creation of the National Pantheon of Heroes of Ukraine is an exclusively internal matter of the state and should not depend on the demands of other countries. This opinion was expressed by historian and lawyer Serhiy Berendeyev, commenting on Poland's calls for "de-escalation" around historical issues. According to him, Kyiv should calmly but reasonably respond to Warsaw's historical claims, because every European country has a difficult past.
