Dialogue with Indigenous Peoples, from Huayacocotla, Veracruz. Sunday, January 5, 2020. President AMLO. In Huayacocotla, Veracruz, we engaged in dialogue with the Nahua, Otomi, Tepehua, and Huastec peoples. We listened to their demands and informed them about the government program we are implementing to consolidate the Fourth Transformation of public life, as well as the progress of the Benito Juárez Universities for Well-being program. In addition to Veracruz, this weekend we were in Tlaxcala, Puebla, and Hidalgo, and we will conclude in the State of Mexico. Next weekend we will travel to Chihuahua and Sonora; in 15 days we will go to Oaxaca to inaugurate 26 new concrete roads built with local labor. We need to keep moving forward to achieve change. Government representatives and those in charge of social programs must commit themselves to seizing this opportunity to bring about change. This is the first time a popular movement, a movement of the people, for the poorest and most humble, has triumphed. We want to make it clear that there will no longer be distribution of food baskets or roofing sheets; now the people have rights. We will send a bill to Congress to elevate pensions for senior citizens and minors with disabilities to constitutional status, in addition to the scholarships that are already being distributed. We congratulate the teachers and students of the University for Well-being in Huayacocotla. We recognize the efforts of the coordinator of the University for Well-being System, Raquel Sosa, to open 100 higher education centers throughout the country. In the coming days, she will sign an agreement with the director of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples, Adelfo Regino Montes, to bring the right to pursue a bachelor's degree to Valladolid, Yucatán, and Calkiní, Campeche. Currently, 85 of the 100 campuses offering 36 bachelor's degrees with 31 curricula are under construction. There are 815 teachers and 42,775 registered students, of whom 14,011 receive a scholarship of 2,400 pesos per month. We are committed to never failing or letting you down.
