New Casio G-Shock GW6900U for 2026! My Full Review.
STOP THE PRESSES! I posted this video and then, only about an hour later, I received an advertisement from Casio announcing that this new GW-6900U is now officially available in the USA. Check this page… https://gshock.casio.com/us/whats-new... It's been about 30 years since Casio first released the 6900 series of G-Shock watches. Since then, there have literally been hundreds of variations. Personally, I've only been drawn to the ones with Tough Solar and Multiband 6 technology, but I have to admit that I admire lots of other ones. I wish that all of the different colors and even some jumbo size versions could be re-released with Solar/Atomic technology. In mid-2024 Casio released a version called the GW-6904K-7 and, with that, introduced an updated module for the Solar/Atomic line-up. That new module, number 3547, is now available in the GW-6900U, which offers all of the same functions in a more standard color variation. The GW-6900U was initially released in Japan and then, on February 20, 2026, it was officially released elsewhere. Suggested retail price in the USA is $155. Bottom line: The only difference between the older GW-6900 and the newer GW-6900U appears to be the old version has an electroluminescent backlight and the new version has an LED backlight. All of the other functions and features are the same. And those functions include things like a World Time mode, five daily alarms (one of which is a snooze alarm), an hourly signal, a 24-hour stopwatch, a 24-hour countdown timer and an automatic backlight setting. The watch has a solar cell built into the face which will charge the internal power source with exposure to normal, daily lighting conditions. The Multiband 6 receiver will activate automatically at midnight and attempt to receive each hour up to six times (but will stop after it's succesful for that particular night). It can receive accurate, down-to-the-second "Atomic" time from up to six transmitters worlwide including one in China, two in Japan, one in North America, one in the UK and one in Germany.
