Why did i leave Kenya and go suffer in Saudia arabia
Isabella Juma was born and raised in Kibera. She completed her primary and secondary education, but when she joined college, she became pregnant and dropped out. Even after giving birth, she was unable to return to school. Later, she had a second child. At that time, she had a stable job, but due to issues with the father of her children, she was unable to continue working. When her second child grew older, Isabella began searching for work across the country, but her efforts were unsuccessful. She then decided to look for opportunities abroad. She was connected to an agent and went to apply at their office in Utawala. However, after seeing the poor living conditions of the applicants, she decided to leave the next morning. She was later connected to another agent, applied for a passport, and immediately began a one-month training program. Her visa was approved, and she traveled to Saudi Arabia. Fortunately, she met kind employers and worked peacefully. After her contract ended, she chose to extend it because she was repaying loans in Kenya. However, her salary was reduced, and she decided to leave. With the help of friends, she planned her escape—waiting until her employers were asleep before running away. The next day, she found another job, but her employer only spoke Arabic. The language barrier made it difficult for her to work. She continued trying different jobs, but eventually, there was no work at all, and she spent all her savings within three months. One night, while staying in a room with others, they heard knocking and voices outside. Suddenly, the doors were forced open by people claiming to be CID officers. They were ordered to wear abayas and follow them. They were taken to a police station where many photos were taken, then transferred to another station, and later to a third one. Although they were given food, the environment was harsh. They were interrogated one by one before being transported to prison. There, all their belongings—including money and phones—were confiscated. They were ordered to remove their clothes, jewelry, and undo their hair. After thorough searches, they were given prison uniforms. In prison, Isabella and others endured physical abuse for a long time. By God’s grace, she eventually managed to leave that place and regain her freedom.
