National Mall visitors warned about dangerous heat

Dangerous heat is expected to blanket the Washington, D.C. region during the Fourth of July holiday, and city officials are taking extra precautions to help residents and visitors stay safe. In this report, 7News explains how the District is expanding access to cooling centers, recreation centers, outdoor pools and splash pads as temperatures climb into the dangerous range. D.C. Fire and EMS Chief John Donnelly says the department is preparing for one of its busiest days of the year, with emergency calls expected to surge during the holiday weekend.
