FLUSHLINE!!! EPIC ANTIQUE Old Otis/OMEGA Traction Elevators at 2015 Drummond Street in Montreal, QC

Filmed on April 18th, 2022. I just had a really good feeling that this beautiful historic building was gonna have something vintage, and well, sure enough, it did! Although, I didn't expect these elevators to have EPCO Flushline fixtures and once I saw the fixtures, I wasn't expecting to love these as much as I did! Now mind you, while I do normally associate EPCO with making Generic and ugly elevator fixtures, there was a time they actually made cool and quality fixtures, and Flushline is certainly no exception! Although, while I do like Flushline, I don't find it to be AS COOL or foamworthy like I do seeing 1st party fixtures by major or smaller local based brands. That being said though, the Flushline fixtures actually look pretty good on these elevators, and I totally forgot how nice the buttons were to press as it's been years since I last saw an elevator with these fixtures, and the thing is, the fixtures aren't even the best part about these elevators!!! In addition to the VERY RARE & COOL Flushline fixtures, these elevators have a TON of character from having EPIC Generators noises, Relays and Motors, A Very Unique & Fun Ride Quality (and each of the elevators in the building runs slightly different which adds to the charm!) and in each of the 2 banks of elevators in this beautiful historic building, 1 elevator in the bank is smaller and more narrow than the other! I definitely wonder why they did this when they designed the building, but it definitely makes the elevators even more quirky and adds to their charm! This building was built in 1920, and from what I can gather, the elevators here were originally Manual Otis Fensom, and then they were presumably modernized likely in the 1940s or 1950s by Otis (as suggested by the Antiquated 40s-50s Otis style elevator doors and door tracks on 3 out of 4 of the elevators in the building, as well as the Black Button call stations in the basement), and then modernized most recently in either the 1960s or 1970s by a never before seen on YouTube Vintage local brand known as "OMEGA ELEVATOR". Now, I know some of you guys are probably watching the video and wondering whether or not the Omega Mod with Flushline fixtures was a full mod or a slap on mod with new cabs, and to be honest, I am not sure... However, I'm leaning more towards it being a full mod, except for maybe the motors. The reason being is that Otis controllers on Black Button elevators don't usually have the capability to have the buttons light up when they're pressed (unless there's lights beside the buttons), the generators and relays sound different from normal Otis relays and aside from 1 of the elevators, these elevators don't classic level, and last but not least, one of the elevators does not have a 40s-60s Otis door track on it or Old Otis style doors (suggesting it remained fully original up until the OMEGA Mod) and yet it runs the same as the other cars. With that said, I don't know for sure, and a lot of what I'm saying about these elevators regarding their history are educated guesses, but regardless, these elevators are REALLY REALLY COOL and I enjoyed these elevators WAY more than I thought I would at first glance! This whole building as a WHOLE is really cool and antiquated with a Beautiful & Largely Untouched 1920s Historic Lobby and Cast Iron Staircases, and Hallways on the upper floors that scream 1960s Vintage with BELLS for the Fire Alarms & Everything!! All in all, just an ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE Set of Elevators in a BEAUTIFUL & CHARMING & ANTIQUATED Historic Building that I'd HIGHLY recommend checking out if you visit Montreal!!! (Although, let's be real, given how many cool elevators this town has, you may not be able to see all of them in one trip ;) ) Installed in 1920. (Manually Controlled Otis Fensom) Modernized: 1st Modernization: Circa 1940s or 1950s. (Otis, presumably with Black Button fixtures, New Doors, New Cabs, and New Motors & Controllers. 1 out of 4 of the elevators appears to have been left untouched from this mod) 2nd Modernization: Circa 1960s or 1970s. (OMEGA Elevator with EPCO Flushline fixtures, New Controllers, New Doors on 1 of the elevators and New Cabs. Doors and possibly the motors left as is from previous modernization.)
