Because we don't know | 俊輝 松坂 | TEDxSaikai
Toshiki Matsusaka, a mathematician in Fukuoka Prefecture, talks about a miracle that occurred at his university. You can learn about cutting-edge mathematical research in a way that is both easy to understand and enjoyable. Through his talk, you can learn the value of taking on new challenges. Born in 1993 in Tomie-cho, Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, he grew up amidst the rich nature of Goto until graduating from high school. Since being captivated by Enzensberger's "The Number Devil," which he read in elementary school, he has continued his endless exploration of the vast world of mathematics. After studying at the University of Cologne in Germany, he obtained a degree in mathematics from Kyushu University, and at the age of 26, he became a specially appointed assistant professor at the Institute for Advanced Study, Nagoya University. In recent years, in addition to mathematical research, he has also been focusing on activities to widely convey the appeal of mathematics. He received the 7th Kyushu Young Mathematician Award in 2019, the 38th Inoue Research Encouragement Award in 2022, and the Takebe Kenhiro Encouragement Award of the Mathematical Society of Japan in 2023. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Mathematics, Kyushu University, and a Visiting Professor at Kangwon National University, South Korea. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
