Prvá písomná zmienka pochádza z roku 907, keď maďarské vojská porazili Bavorov. Do 13. storočia mal hrad cirkevný charakter a neskôr mal aj kominátnu funkciu, čo znamenalo, že tam sídlila časť Bratislavskej župy. V roku 1811 zachvátil hrad veľký požiar a hrad chátral až do roku 1953, kedy sa postupne začala jeho rekonštrukcia. The first written mention dates back to 907, when Hungarian troops defeated the Bavarians. Until the 13th century, the castle had a ecclesiastical character and later also had a cominet function, which meant that part of the Bratislava County was located there. In 1811, a major fire engulfed the castle and the castle fell into disrepair until 1953, when its reconstruction gradually began.
