Innovation in Health Facilities Saves Lives In Somalia

Emergency medical services are provided to 63,000 internally displaced people in Mogadishu and in the Bay region of southern Somalia. During 2011, 240,000 individual interventions were provided; as needy individuals often required a combination of the services provided by our teams. Therapeutic feeding programs have saved the lives of thousands of children and mothers who also receive lifesaving vaccines and treatment for various conditions such as diarrhea, measles and malaria. The distribution of food and other essential commodities is constantly adapted to suit the unique requirements of famine victims in each of the three countries in which SOS Children's Villages operates the East Africa Emergency Program. ------------------------------------------------------------ SOS Children’s Villages is an international organization that builds loving, stable families for orphaned, abandoned and other vulnerable children in 134 countries.
