O CHORÃO FEZ A GLOBO COMER NA MÃO DELE COM "TE LEVAR DAQUI"

A theme song for a teen soap opera. When "Te Levar" was featured on Malhação, Charlie Brown Jr. ceased to be just an up-and-coming band and became the obligatory afternoon soundtrack for millions of Brazilians. This revealed a much larger mechanism: Globo, Som Livre, the music industry, youth, money, and emotional memory working together. Chorão brought rock into Brazilian homes every day and, somehow, made Globo dependent on that energy to keep Malhação connected to a generation that no longer fit into the old, clean TV standards. It aired for seven years. A replacement with another song by the band itself, and a story that shows how an opening theme managed to transform Charlie Brown Jr. into part of the collective memory of an entire generation.
