He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. (RVC) 2 Kings 5:1 Now Naaman, a commander in the army of the king of Syria, was a mighty warrior. His master held him in high esteem because the Lord had given victory to Syria through him, a mighty warrior. But Naaman had leprosy. 2 One day, a young Israelite woman, whom the Syrian raiders had taken captive and placed in the service of Naaman’s wife, 3 said to her mistress, “If only my master would go to the prophet in Samaria, he would cure him of his leprosy.” (RVC) Our mercy connects people to God’s mercy. Mercy is doing good to those who don't deserve it. 1. Loving our enemies begins with forgiving them. 2. To feel and show mercy toward others, we must overcome self-pity. 3. Mercy is remembering that Jesus Christ treated us with kindness even when our sins crucified him on that cross. Luke 6:31 Treat others as you would like them to treat you. (NLT)
