Gear Shifter Locked in Park, Won't Go Into Drive Even with Brake Depressed - 2002-2008 Trailblazer

SAFETY FIRST: MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE IS STABILIZED BEFORE STARTING ANY MECHANICAL WORK- ESPECIALLY ON ANY SHIFTER ISSUES! On this video you will see the two "NO-TOOL quick fixes" that may work for your car! 1- Check the BTSI fuse (#25 in the fuse box) BTSI means Brake Transmission Shift Interlock which is a safety mechanism to prevent the Transmission from going into gear without the brake being depressed. A blown fuse there will keep the gear shifter from unlocking from the park position. 2- Apply some spray lubricant to the linkage at the base of the shifter lever (under the shifter boot). This may help the linkages to operate more smoothly.
