"Quiet, Time" Chapman Stick improvisation by Greg Howard

You can find more of my videos on my website: Take 24 minutes and just chill out with me... I performed this improvisation for the University of Virginia's Virtual Chamber Music Series last April. I thought I would share it with you here as well. The instrument I'm playing is a standard Chapman Grand Stick in the Classic tuning with a high bass 4th. Keeping the sonic aspect as simple as possible, there's just a touch of reverb added. The sound and energy depend completely on the hands. Improvisation works best when it is a form of spontaneous composition. The musician remembers where the piece has been and leads it forward with the opportunity to recapitulate themes or ideas at any moment.
