My Latest Make - Simplicity 9469 - November 2022

This week I'm sharing my latest dressmaking project with you Simplicity 9469 in our unbelievably soft and silky Dashwood cotton lawn. As soon as I saw this blouse pattern I knew I had to make it. I absolutely loved the styling on the packet, it was right up my street and I love wearing blouses with jeans in the cooler months paired with a favourite cardigan for a change from jumpers. I think it makes you handmade outfit a little bit more interesting having the layers and a pretty printed fabric to show off under the knitwear layer. It was honestly one of the easiest things I've ever sewn and whipped up in no time. There are no fiddly fastenings like zips or buttonholes, no darts, just a very straight forward tunic shape. My top tip would be to make sure you trim, grade and clip the seam round the keyhole meticulously to give you a nice, neat finish and to use my favourite overlocker tip for turning the straps through if you have one.
