AV-4508 Huellas de un siglo. Tucumán 1966-1975

This chapter reconstructs the socio-political context of Tucumán between 1965 and 1976, a period marked by social crisis, revolutionary struggle, and institutional repression. The documentary explains how, following the closure of numerous sugar mills during the Onganía dictatorship, a workers' and students' movement linked to popular insurrection began to take shape. The film recounts a series of popular uprisings led by the Tucumán Sugar Industry Workers' Federation (FOTIA) and the Revolutionary Workers' Party (PRT), the political and artistic experiences of "Tucumán Arde" (Tucumán Burns), and the actions of the People's Revolutionary Army (ERP) with the "Ramón Rosa Jiménez" Mountain Company. The bloody repression of the self-styled “Operation Independence,” commanded by Acdel Vilas, appears as a precursor to the state terrorism unleashed after the 1976 civic-military coup.
